Danna Harvey

Danna Ruth Harvey was creating a winter painting when she inadvertently placed a piece of wax paper over a photograph. She noticed that it greatly changed the way she felt about the photograph and, consequently, began to explore wax as a medium. Through experimentation Ms. Harvey has developed a unique approach to painting.

She begins by suspending the oil pigment in the wax medium as she paints and then she entombs the completed painting in multiple layers of wax as a finishing process. The artist feels that the more obscure an image becomes, the greater the possibility that the viewers will bring their own experiences to the painting.
