Elizabeth Rickert’s work is a diverse array of subjects from nature all unified by her intuitive ability to create depth. She also achieves subtle variations in color and form by layering her soft pastels and applying them with a rubbing technique. The result is at once dramatic and soothing.
Initiated into the art world through her early work as a sculptor, Rickert gradually became interested in painting images from photographs that she’d taken. Her lillies, blossoms and fruit were largely inspired by a project that involved taking photos of sculpture-like cellular structures through a high intensity microscope. Return visits to the Maryland Eastern shore of her childhood has led Ms. Rickert to a fresh approach to landscapes whereby she blends the tiny details of nature with the expansion of big sky and clouds.
Through the years, her unique combination of technique, color, depth and light has caught the attention of many a corporate collector. Some well-known examples are the Polaroid Corporation, Fidelity Investments, The Boston Red Sox, Price Waterhouse and Coopers & Lybrand. Additionally, she has been invited to showcase her work throughout the northeastern US in single and group exhibitions. She has also been reviewed by such publications as The Boston Globe, Art New England and The Boston Herald. Please visit the shop to purchase her limited edition prints.
