Keith Abney was born in the small North Georgia town of Ringgold, Keith migrated to the arts at an early age. Some of his earliest memories include learning sketching from his grandfather, a landscape painter of note in the Chattanooga area.
Upon completion of his college education majoring in Art at the University of Tennessee, Keith moved to Miami in the early nineties. After selling his paintings through galleries and outdoor art festivals for a period of time, he traveled to New York City to further hone his painting skills. Keith then returned to the South and currently resides in Atlanta where he maintains his painting studio.
Keith is primarily an abstract painter. However, he is equally adept at still life and architectural imagery. Keith’s palette is rich in color and texture. He accomplishes this by using oils, acrylics and pencil applied in layers. Finally, varnish is applied and the painting is then finished with pencil sketching. His work can be found in galleries throughout the southeast and in corporate collections such as Hewlett-Packard and Sun Trust Bank.
